Job Purpose
To assist in the shop by merchandising, selling products, dealing with customer queries, and ringing up sales.
Location: Montague Gardens, Cape Town
Salary: Market related
Contract Type: Permanent, with a 6-month probation period
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 07:45 – 17:00
- Saturdays: 08:00 – 13:00
- Public Holidays as needed (due to the nature of the industry)
Experience Needed
- At least 2 years of FMCG experience
- Cashier experience
- Seafood knowledge (Advantageous)
Qualifications / Skills
- Essential: Matric
- Advantageous: SAP, CISTECH
Requirements
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills
- Honesty, Integrity, and Reliability
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision
- A willingness to learn
- Open to change and learning new systems
- Able to work under pressure
- Good time management
- Available to work public holidays and Saturdays
Key Responsibilities
- Merchandising: Displaying products in the shop while adhering to food safety standards
- Customer Service: Dealing with customers in a professional manner, assisting with requests or complaints
- Health & Safety: Adhering to health & safety regulations
- Stock Takes: Participating in monthly and ad-hoc stock takes
- Cross-Department Assistance: Helping in any department within the shop
- Cashier Functions: Ringing up transactions, processing cash/cards as payment, and performing cashing-up functions
- Customer Calling: Completing a weekly customer calling sheet
- Sales Growth: Sourcing new customers to increase stock turnover and sales
