SALARY: 💰 R138 486 per annum
CENTRE: Groote Schuur Hospital, Observatory
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Educational Qualification: Basic numeracy and literacy.
- Experience: Appropriate experience in a food service environment.
- Inherent Requirements of the Job:
- Must be able to work day/night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Willingness to enter all hospital wards and serve patients.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting heavy objects and standing for long periods.
- Competencies (Knowledge/Skills):
- Understanding of food production for normal and therapeutic diets in a hospital or institutional setting.
- Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and safety principles.
DUTIES (Key Result Areas/Outputs):
- Operate within the Cook Chill System, including pre-preparation, cooking, plating, distribution, regeneration, and serving of meals and beverages for patients in line with the PGWC Food Service Policy.
- Follow standardized PGWC recipes and menus to ensure consistency and quality.
- Assist in the receipt and storage of provisions and supplies within the food service unit.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene by cleaning the kitchen area and equipment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients and kitchen staff, reporting problems and recommendations to the Foodservice Supervisor/Manager.
- Adhere to the hospital’s dress code and departmental policies at all times.
